These beautiful blue beads are bits of ancient Roman recycling, turned into beads by artisans in modern Afghanistan. This necklace features the blue glass textured beads and a central focal bead, alternating with sterling silver, with a steel clasp. The necklace is about 18 inches long. Inspired by the strung bead necklaces dug up at archaeological sites all over Europe and Northern Africa. I like to imagine what it must have been like to create jewelry thousands of years ago.
